Pat's Ponderings

When I was at Women's Conference, I was able to attend a musical performance by several different LDS performers. One of those was Kenneth Kope. He sang a song about how the Lord loves broken things. This song really spoke to my soul and I have listened to it many times since. I don't know if I have thought about the fact that the Lord might love me even more because I am broken, than he would if I was perfect. Something to ponder. I think Satan tries to discourage me by telling me that I need to be perfect, now. It is kind of like that Lynn Robbins book, I believe in Christ, but do I believe Christ, when he says that he can take my life, mistakes and all, and make me whole. This song reminds me that I do.

This song invoked such imagery in my mind and I figured it would be perfect for a slide show. As of right now, I don't have a lesson or anything to show this at. Marion says that I should make up a lesson for it to go with. Perhaps it is enough for it to be just for me, to uplift and encourage me when I am feeling down. I choose some of my favorite pictures to go along with the music. So for now I will just share it with all of you.

That is a touching song. I love all the pics you used in your slide show.

I agree that the Lord loves us even though we're broken. All mortals are broken to one degree or another. But I don't think He wants us to stay broken. I think we have to be careful and not just give up and say "oh well I'm broken but God loves me anyway". He will heal us, but we have to do some work too.

Good point. I think what I was trying to say is that songs like these give me the encouragement I need to do that work.

Wow! That was beautiful! You really found perfect picutres to go with the beautiful music. Very touching. I agree that we need to be careful not to be too hard on ourselves to the point that we give up. Christ is the way.

In the temple today I saw the joy that the young couple felt as they knelt at the alter to make their covenants with each other and with God. He has promised to give us all that He has. And to help us do that He gave His Son. I have seen so many miracles where people have been able to over come incredible trials---and it is all due to turning them over to Christ and letting Him fix the broken things. Awesome!

I love that song and your slideshow is uplifting. I knew Kenneth Cope while was at BYU--he sang in my apartment several times. He was a struggling young musician. He has since been to KC and I got a chance to see him twice. He is an inspiring performer.

THanks for sharing.

Wow that was awesome! I bet that took a lot of time to get the timing so perfect on all of that, and the pictures all fit so well. I had actually forgotten about that song, but hearing it again brought back so many memories and thoughts. Thanks for sharing!!

Wow, I have never heard that song, and what a perfect thing for all of us to hear, learn, and share together.
Thanks for this, I am going to bookmark it for those days, when I do feel broken. :)
